The Kenya Sevens began their stay in Hong Kong with a shock 19-0 win over Spain in their first HSBC Sevens game Friday morning.

Shujaa took the Spanish apart in sublime fashion at the newly opened Kai Tak sports ground in Hong Kong to stun the watching crowd. Spain are currently ranked second overall in the Series this season.

Patrick Odongo opened the scoring in the first half with Vincent Ooro touching down to give Shujaa a 12-0 half time lead.

Captain Samuel Asati added a third try to make it 19-0 and seal the win over a shell-shocked Spain, who could not match the Kenyan physicality on display.

Kenya Sevens took on Great Britain in their second clash, played at 9.23 am local time, narrowly losing 12-7.

They will battle France early Saturday morning at 5.16 am in their final group match, which will be a must win as they look to make the main cup quarter-finals.

The Sevens boys are currently ninth on the HSBC Sevens overall log with 15 points from the first four tournaments this season.

Thus far Kenya has played in Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, and Vancouver.

Following Dubai, they will head to Singapore in April and Los Angeles in May in the final two legs.
